Apple iPad Air Dock on the iOS 7 Home screen - What does this App Software Dock do?
I'm not talking about iPad & iPhone docks from Hi-Rise / iHome / Belkin / Everdock; the keyboard dock, charging dock or wireless speakers like Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin. I mean the iOS 7 app Dock on the iPad's homescreen. What's it for?
The Dock in Apple iPad Air is a translucent bar at the bottom of the Home screen (the screen that appears when you first turn on your iPad Air).
The purpose of the Dock is to hold up to 6 of the most frequently used apps on your tablet device (there's space for 4 apps on the iPhone and 6 apps on the iPad). You can pin those apps to the home screen dock.
The Dock itself stays static and does not change as you swipe across the app pages. This makes it useful for shortcuts to Safari, Mail, Video, Music or security apps.
